I’ve been there!

I quit Teaching 3 times

I became a teacher at 22, my first job after graduating from college. I was committed to working toward social justice, and I chose teaching as a way to create change where I thought I could make the biggest impact.

There was so much I loved about teaching - connecting with students, watching those aha moments hit, and being part of a school community. However, I constantly felt exhausted, stressed, and ultimately I was unhappy. I tried three different teaching positions, I changed subjects, schools and districts, but the burn out only got worse. But finding a different career felt daunting and I was terrified of abandoning my students.

When I realized I couldn’t do it alone, I hired a coach. She allowed me to find and follow a path to a more fulfilling career that was more aligned to my personal values, and the confidence to land my next position.

I have now worked in school districts, city government, and education non-profits. I continue to learn more about myself and the change I want to make in the world at each step of the way.
